Marlon Brando's final movie is to begin filming in Los Angeles next week, amid
fears for the star's health.
The Stiff is a remake of the critically acclaimed 1998 mexican film El
Cadáver, in which the main protagonist spends the entire film gradually
decomposing in a suburban living room whilst his family and friends bicker over
his will. Critics hailed the original as a biting parody of modern state bureacracy,
although whether the Hollywood version will retain the satirical bite of the original
remains to be seen.
"We'd expected Mr Brando's method acting techniques to be a little, ah, extreme",
said casting director Terry Kiser, "but to actually contract a pulmonary infection
and die in hospital is a masterstroke. Naturally, all of us at Universal Pictures are
